We are a boutique music industry PR firm working nationally with some of the biggest names in the Australian music industry; promoting gigs, releases, festivals and events.
Our business is expanding and a position for a part-time Publicist has become available in our Melbourne CBD office. This role is based on a minimum of 15-hours per week, with on occasion, some out of standard business hours work. This is a small firm where team spirit is a must, and those applying must be able to work under instruction and autonomously.
The ideal applicant must have experience in a similar role or within the media (1-2 years minimum) and a strong understanding of, and passion for, the Australian music industry.
The role’s responsibilities will include:-
- Liaison with Domestic and National Media
- Maintaining excellent working relations with media, including local and national newspapers, magazines, radio and television
- Composition of press releases
- Scheduling interviews
- Compiling Reports
- Putting PR kits together
- Organising reoccurring work-in-progress meetings with clients to discuss current topics
- Maintaining online media, social networking and industry databases
- Other duties as set, including administration
- Work on site at client events / festivals
The ideal applicant must possess the following:-
- Excellent communication skills
- Professional phone manner
- Excellent Computer Skills
- An understanding of the media, and its structures
- Professional writing skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Initiative and ability to work unsupervised
- A desire to work long term in the music industry is a must
- Previous publicity and / or media experience
