Eric Bibb is a world renowned bluesman who has music in his soul and a swag of awards to his name – and this year he headlines the 3rd annual Cairns Blues Festival.

This international troubadour has played at some of the world’ s most legendary venues in his time including Glastonbury Festival (UK), BB Kings in New York (USA) and an Aussie icon the Port Fairy Folk Festival (Victoria). No stranger to North Queensland, Eric Bibb has previously performed to sold-out audiences at Tanks Arts Centre and his reputation at Johno’s Blues Bar.

Described as an international folk-blues master of songcraft, Eric’s performance in Cairns will follow his appearance at the 2011 Byron Bay BluesFest. His concert will not only feature tracks from his extensive back catalogue, but also songs from his latest release Booker’s Guitar. The new album has scored him a new round of accolades including 2010 DownBeat Critics Poll for Best Blues Album and was inspired by Eric’s recent opportunity to play a 1930’s guitar owned by blues legend Booker White.

As an artist that has been inspired by pre-war Delta blues music, Eric Bibb has brought the acoustic country-blues sound into the new century with Booker's Guitar. Purveying a beautifully realised and deftly accomplished, soulful and gospel infused, folk- blues, Eric has no problem melding a traditional rootsy American style with a subtle contemporary sensibility. He has criss-crossed the world paying his dues and absorbing musical influences, picking up countless awards and nominations, and mesmerising audiences along the way.
