FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE
The Upsteppers are sure to bring the party to their performance when they join the already very impressive line-up at this year’s Kuranda Roots Festival. Hailing from Brisbane this roots-heavy, power-driven outfit is sure to get the floor shaking. The Upsteppers encompass a big band arrangement with a roots and rhythm feel delivered with distinctive energy. The band features guitars, keyboards, a three-piece horn section and, deep rhythms all supported by smooth and pure vocals.
The outfit currently has two diverse CD releases on the cards for 2011. The releases will emphasize the bands diversity in the field of dub and reggae. Their past recordings have seen collaborations with a number of producers and musicians and identify their innovation and skillfulness in the dub / reggae scene. Their music has had regular spins on Triple J’s Roots ‘n’ All program, broadcast nationally. The Upsteppers are exploring new territory in 2011 and Kuranda Roots Festival is sure to get a taste of what they have to offer in a live setting.
They are thought to be one of the leading Australian acts when it comes to this increasingly popular genre of music and their ability to sell out shows across Queensland is testament to this. There local following is unmistakable, The Upsteppers tend to steal the Brisbane Dub / Reggae scene. The group has worked with a very impressive line-up of producers on various recordings that has helped create and maintain their unique yet beats heavy sound.
The band has brought their impressive sound to music festivals right across Australia; they never seem to fail to steal the attention of all their audience members and get them moving. It has to be seen to be believed but you’d be hard pressed not to have your head bopping along to their beats. In addition to selling out shows and creating distinctively sounding releases the band have performed alongside some great Reggae talents such as Jamaica’s Chaka Demus & Pliers and Jah Mason. They’ve also played with USA’s Groundation, New Zealand’s Katchafire and Black Seeds as well as Australia’s very own Kingtide.
The Upsteppers seem to be turning a lot of head but see for yourself when they take the stage at this year’s Kuranda Roots Festival where they’ll bring their own jungle element to the scene.
