The Drum & Bass / Dub / Jungle genre in Australia is becoming increasingly popular with groups such as The Bird pioneering the scene since establishment fifteen years ago. This independent act hailing from Sydney, New South Wales continue to push boundaries in their musical arrangements and this is sure to have the crowd dancing through their throbbing set at this year’s Kuranda Roots Festival.
These highly skillful musicians combine keyboard with drums and electronics to create their deep Dub / Drum & Bass style. At the heart of The Bird are Ben Walsh on drums and Simon Durrington on keyboard. Together they create a truly eclectic sound which combines various elements such as break beats, electro-synth lines, Asian Underground held together with dub step. The Bird’s influences along with pure genius as musicians and true innovators of this music are apparent when, in their performance, they the take their listeners on an elaborate journey through their sound. The Bird are first and foremost a live act who keep their set fresh and full of essence pleasing all who happen to cross its path; however, in the studio, the band add elements to the style of music that has never been heard. Not dissimilar to many other acts within this niche, The Bird provide the most engaging sound within a live setting where they share their heavy beats and intricate sound with all members of their audience.
The Bird has been touring extensively over the past few years and has truly made their mark on the scene. They have performed locally as well as internationally at esteemed music festivals from Glastonbury to Woodford Festival, Two Tribes and, Earthcore. The Bird manage to turn heads with whatever they perform and manage to keep their fans and lovers of the scene coming back to see what else these creative, expert artists have in store.

Tickets for the festival are pre-sale: season tickets $75 (adult) or $95 (w/ camping) (includes admission to the Sunday after party) or $65 (concession). Friday evening tickets for adults are $28 (or $38 w/ camping) and concession are $23 (or 33 w/ camping). Saturday tickets for adults are $48 (or $58 w/ camping) and concession are $42 (or $52 w/ camping).
