FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE

After the release of their fourth offering Mono | Stereo last year, Melbourne pop rockers One Kind are gearing up to hit the road in July and traverse the depths of regional Victoria to take their music to the masses. Presented by Clear Springs Entertainment, the tour also features supports by Teak and Andrew McDonald (certain shows only) and is a chance for One Kind fans to catch up on what the bands has been up to in the past 12-months.

Bass player Nic Papadakis says audiences can expect a vibrant, energetic show – “loud and punchy”. “I guess for us, we really want to show where we came from musically, and to where we are at now,” he says. “It also provides a good ‘variation’ to the set, with some different moods and tones, to take the audience on a bit of a ride with us throughout the show. Also, when we play the older songs, we invariably like to change them up a little, to play them in a way that complements where we are at musically at the moment. So this also brings them to life in a different way than when we originally wrote the songs.”

Since the release of their last album, the band has been hard working on crafting a new material, and finalising the music for the forthcoming film The Hurtin’ Kind, which is due to start filming in July. “A good friend of mine is doing a movie called The Hurtin’ Kind about underworld Melbourne,” says lead singer Michael Rowan. “He is a pretty big fan of the band and he asked us to work on it so we’ve gotta come up with an original soundtrack to the movie.” The film, starring Mark "Chopper" Read, Thea Gill (Queer As Folk), Al Rama and John Savage (The Deer Hunter) is directed by Aleksi Vellis (The Wog Boy) and written by Frank Howson (Flynn, Burn Hollywood Burn, Boulevard of Broken Dreams) is inspired by actual events in the Melbourne underworld and will feature real-life characters involved in the story.

One Kind came together in Melbourne’s West in 2005 and have served up four acclaimed releases;  Then There Was Nothing, Foreverlution, the self-titled One Kind and the latest release Mono Stereo. The lads of One Kind, better known as frontman and guitarist Michael Rowan, drummer Viv Miter and bass-man Nic Papadakis, all came from punk and thrash bands in their idealistic youth but evolved their early influences and styles to create a passionate flame for euphoric, solid pop-rock goodness. And the result of this dabbling into the pop-realm of composition is the creation of One Kind, a band that is already making waves in the music industry – and will soon be launched on the international stage.

Don’t miss this enigmatic band in action as they tour through Victoria… and later again as their music graces the big screen. One Kind’s forthcoming album is set for release in 2012.
