FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE

Country Up

Welcome to an exciting new era in Country Music, featuring Australia’s hottest new acts all on the one show, on the one night and all with songs in the charts and video’s to match!

The idea for the show comes from music manager and agent Phil ‘paynie’ Payne, having been inspired by the many new and exciting young artists on the scene right now. “Country Music is blessed with an incredible amount of talent quests happening all around the Country that reveal our future young talent, but so often these artists simply don’t go on to see any form of major success,” he says. “For our music to grow we’ll always need new stars so this show is about finding and developing our superstars of the future. The future of our music is in its youth and we can all benefit from their success.”

MarkusMARKUS MEIER

Most people seem to think that MARKUS MEIER has come onto the scene in only the last 18 months and that’s mainly due to his fantastic achievements on Radio where he’s achieved three consecutive #1 singles (‘My Patch of Dirt’, ‘Rope a Cowgirl’ and ‘A Different Land’) and also two CMAA awards nominations plus has toured Australia with the likes of Lee Kernaghan and The McClymonts.

But over the last 8 – 9 years Markus has performed more than 800 shows and just recently released his third album ‘Modern Days’ with the first single ‘A Perfect Night’ already creating fantastic interest at both contemporary FM radio and Community radio alike.

Singer songwriter Markus Meier hails from a place you may never get to.........the sleepy outback town of Halls Creek in NW Western Australia, where he learnt to play the guitar from the age of 5. More than 2 decades later Markus is attracting attention in every direction, not only because of his radio success but because he’s new and different and doing it his way.

A Rockin’ Country feel from a talented, good looking Country boy has many believing he has the ability to encourage a whole new generation of fans.

Morgan EvansMORGAN EVANS

Over the last 4 or so years Newcastle born singer-musician MORGAN EVANS has burst onto the Australian Music scene with his debut single ‘Big Skies’ reaching #1 on the Country Music Channel, #4 on the Australian airplay chart and also earning him two CMAA awards nominations.

He’s toured nationally with the likes of Taylor Swift, Shannon Noll, Thirsty Merc, Brooks & Dunn and Gary Allan. He’s also performed internationally on Nashville’s biggest stage, the CMA Festival in front of 50000 people! Morgan opened the show for the likes of Brad Paisley and Alan Jackson and is one of only two Aussies ever to perform at the festival (Keith Urban is the other).

2011 is shaping up to be a big year for Morgan. After spending the last 9 – 12 months writing, recording and preparing for the release of a new single, Morgan has also done a string of dates with his great live band including ‘CMC Rocks the Hunter’ earlier this year and is very much looking forward to performing at ‘THE HILL’.

Aleyce SimmondsALEYCE SIMMONDS

Having the most requested film clip ever was quite a coup for the 2005 Telstra Road to Discovery Winner, ALEYCE SIMMONDS. The Music Video of Aleyce’s prize winning single, ‘Mighty Mighty Love’ reached the coveted #1 spot on the CMC chart and made Aleyce the youngest artist and first debut release to ever do so.

Aleyce has spent years honing her singing and songwriting skills and writing with some of Australia’s finest songwriters and it has given her a great insight into what it takes to be a quality writer.

Having toured with many popular artists over the last few years, Aleyce came together with multi award winning producer Rod McCormack in 2010 to create her debut album ‘Pieces Of Me’ which was released in January 2011 to a sell-out crowd in her home town of Tamworth. The first single from her debut album ‘The Keeper’ lived up to expectation, being included on the ‘Winners 2010’ a compilation of the best releases of 2009 in Australian Country Music and also produced a nomination for Best Female Rising Star at the National Independent CM Awards. Her second single ‘When I Say Too Much’ has proved very popular and now with the release her third single ‘The Healing Hands of Time’ to both radio and CMC she continues to show just how much her future is on the up and up!

Kaylens RainKAYLENS RAIN

KAYLENS RAIN are a relatively new act but after three years of eager learning and songwriting and a bunch of live shows, including a spot on the 2010 CMC Rocks the Snowys Festival, brother and sister Kaylee and Glen Harrison are ready to take their place in the spotlight. ''I think we're finally at a stage where we know the image we want to portray,'' said lead vocalist Kaylee. ''Now is the time, we've realised our sound and it’s time to take a step forward.'' Showcasing that new sound is the duo's hook-laden debut single, ‘Is That All There Is’. Produced by Andrew Cochrane, the result is a refreshing track that is sure to impress Australian audiences. The song will draw comparisons to the likes of Lady Antebellum and Sugarland which is no surprise considering both Kaylee and Glen's passion for contemporary country music. ''That's what we love,'' Kaylee said. ''We've grown up listening to it, It's our kind of sound.'' Kaylee and Glen hail from the outer suburbs of north western Sydney.

While Kaylee and Glen embrace their country influences, each believe their music has great crossover potential and would love to see it break into the mainstream marketplace. ''A lot of my friends aren’t into country music and they laugh at the fact that I sing country, then when I play them some of my stuff they're like, 'I actually like this kind of music'.''

Jesse EmmanuelJESSE EMMANUEL

At only 22 years of age JESSE EMMANUEL has already built up an impressive list of accomplishments. Her debut single 'Don't Touch My Guitar' was a major Top 5 hit on the national CMR charts and the video spent 6 weeks on the CMC (TV) charts. Her latest single ‘This Town’ has already reached #25 and is still climbing at time of print. And her album 'Everything I Know So Far...’ has found critical acclaim. In 2010 Jesse took home the coveted APRA Songwriter of the Year Award which solidified her status as a real up and coming songwriter.

Jesse plays rhythm guitar and also dabbles in keyboard and bass.....but she's no Tommy or Phil Emmanuel...this girl is a singer and songwriter who just happens to have some of the best guitarists in the world on hand if she ever needs accompaniment! ‘This Town’ is the song that is charming audiences and industry big wigs all over for its funky rhythms and its soft acoustic and mandolin accents. The song is also one that most can relate too – about how Jesse is scared she might have to leave her beloved hometown (Coffs Harbour on the NSW coast) to pursue her dreams.
