FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE
“It was the beginning of something that every kid dreams about, starting a rock 'n' roll band with a bunch of friends and not knowing what would happen next.” Mark Gable, founding member of CHOIRBOYS.
Australia’s legendary ‘pub rock’ band CHOIRBOYS continue their solid touring around Australia in 2012 as they add more dates to their ever popular Never Gonna Die 30th Anniversary tour.
“We initially wanted to only perform one show at The Metro to coincide with the release of our Best Of, not knowing what the feeling was gonna be like. Frontman Mark Gable said. “Before I walked off stage, I said to the audience I wanted to do this all again, and they’ll see I gave my word. We might be a little older and wiser, but I think it will be the best tour ever for Choirboys. I think I have said that every time we have toured!” Says Gable with a chuckle
With a career spanning 30 years, CHOIRBOYS will rock audiences as they traverse their musical history with classics such as “Boys Will be Boys”, “Struggle Town”, “Never Gonna Die”, their unofficial Australian anthem “Run To Paradise” and many more. The Original line-up has been reunited. Band members Mark Gable, Ian Hulmes, Brett Williams and Lindsay Tebbutt will hit the road and tour nationally with hard rocking and heart pounding show.
The History ...
30 years ago, at Mark Gable’s home in Church Point on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, the CHOIRBOYS were formed. Armed with a humble 4-track studio setup in the bedsit, the band would gather to create music. These demos would lead CHOIRBOYS to their first recording deal with Alberts. The CHOIRBOYS journey had begun. No one expected it would lead them into the hearts of the Australian public and the history pages of Australian Music.
Fast Forward 30 Years…
The iconic CHOIRBOYS are now an essential part of our Australian culture having penned one of Australia’s unofficial anthems ‘Run To Paradise’. With other great Aussie rock hits such as ‘Boys Will Be Boys’, ‘Struggle Town’ and ‘Never Gonna Die’, CHOIRBOYS epitomise the essence of the Australian pub-culture are viewed by many as the quintessential Australian rock band. It is a fact that CHOIRBOYS have been entertaining the young and old for 30 years. They have multi-platinum albums and have survived when so many others have fallen.
So why stay around so long? “Because we bloody love it!” says Gable with much enthusiasm. “CHOIRBOYS is exactly the kind of band that I always wanted to be in as a kid, so why not keep on doing it till you die. It is so much fun being in this band.”
