FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE
Alt-country roots rockers Jeremy Edwards & The Dust Radio Band are hitting the road with their new offering Russian Doll and getting ready to steam up live venues in NSW and VIC. Full of lust, lullabies and rock’n’roll, their high energy sets will be filled with high lonesome harmonies and crunchy southern twang. This incredible five-piece, with special guests popping in along the way – Kevin Bennett (The Flood), Gleny Rae & The Tamworth Playboys and Suzannah Espie and Ian Collard (Collard Greens & Gravy) - will make these select gig dates unforgettable.
Jeremy Edwards & The Dust Radio Band is one of those musical outfits that hits you hard in the chest with the first song, and keeps you wanting more. Their basis is steeped in roots, blues and country and as the key songwriter, Jeremy derivers his inspiration from Americana legends such as Steve Earle, Neil Young, Buddy Miller, Sheryl Crow and Lucinda Williams. Their newest offering Russian Doll will go further to add to the incredible acclaim they’ve already earned around Australia and from heavy weights in Nashville.
Dust Radio is a formidable live band, boasting ex and current members of bands performing with the likes of Don Walker and Red Rivers. Add to this that Jeremy himself has toured with legends such as American blues greats John Hammond Jnr and Charlie Musselwhite, and you’ve got an incredible live show. Jeremy has also shared the stage with the likes of Jeff Lang, Diesel, The Drones, Matt Walker and Kevin Bennett, to name a few.
With the new album out on the streets, Jeremy and Dust Radio can’t wait to hit the road for their album tour. “Naturally, Dust Radio are really champing at the bit to get out and show off this record,” Jeremy says. “We spent a lot of time making the thing and it’s basically time for some rock’n’roll! The band are pretty seasoned players and we stretch things out live, and let it loose a bit. There is plenty of interplay between chunky simmering guitars. There’ll be great shirts, one great dress – not me this time – and more roots music, country twang and swaggering rock n roll you can shake a stick at! You’ll also catch up with either Kevin Bennett, Suzannah Espie, Ian Collard or Gleny Rae… so hell, if you don’t like us…”
Russian Doll is a genre-blending album of exquisite songs and some downright awesome rock’n’roll. There is something for all fans and the live show is guaranteed to be unforgettable. “You can hear influences from Little Feat in the title track Russian Doll,” Jeremy says. “It is sort of funky country rock. There’s the spooky lust of the opener Holy Ground and a few fist in the air anthems there too, like Misery Loves Company or Road Gang Song. There’s a bit of hillbilly in there with our mate Kat Mear on fiddle too, which was fun. This is our third album. It’s a little tougher guitar wise, but the tight harmony vocal is the focus of the band and I’ve continued to push that to the front. You also get a swanky ten page booklet too! Need to pay for that so world domination by the band is essential really… the revolution starts now.”
Jeremy Edwards is already acclaimed for his prolific songwriting. Having scored the Garth Porter Producer Award at the 2006 MusicOzAwards, he was revered for his songwriting prowess. He was signed to Perfect Pitch as a writer and his ballad Send Me Home is being used on ABC’s upcoming TV documentary Two Across The Great Divide featuring Tim Flannery and John Doyle. The thing that stands Dust Radio releases out from other bands is the combination of this songwriting, Jeremy’s vocal styles and the soulful, country twang of second vocalist Julieanne Henry. Jeremy and Julieanne swap lead vocals effortlessly, and add to this the twin guitar attack of Jeremy and electric/ lap-steep guitarist Roy Payne, drummer George Brugman’s fierce boogie and new bass man Mike Rix’s passionate melodic groove and you’ve got something that is fresh, unique and unlike anything else you’ll hear around the Australian music scene.
Don’t miss these select album launch shows as Jeremy Edwards and The Dust Radio Band pull out all the stops! Russian Doll is out now.
