The Red Hot Summer Tour Presents The Aussie Rock Extravaganza
Jimmy Barnes, Baby Animals, Ian Moss, Dragon & Chocolate Starfish
Venue Change For Narrabri Gig – January 2013

Jimmy BarnesDue to extreme weather conditions in New South Wales, the organisers of the Red Hot Summer Tour have changed the venue for the upcoming Narrabri gig on Sunday 27th January. The show, which will rock the region on the Australia Day weekend, was scheduled to occur outside on the Crossing Theatre Lawns. With temperatures reported to be in the high 30s throughout next week, the show has now been moved inside the Crossing Theatre venue. All other show details remain the same.

The Red Hot Summer Tour’s Aussie Rock Extravaganza has a massive line-up of great Australian artists, with rock royalty Jimmy Barnes, joined by special guests Baby Animals, Ian Moss, Dragon and Chocolate Starfish. This is the biggest line-up The Red Hot Summer Tour has put together yet making this undoubtedly one of the biggest concert experiences on the Australian touring circuit.

Jimmy Barnes needs no introduction to Aussie audiences. As a legend both from his time fronting Cold Chisel and his top charting solo career, Barnes has toured the breadth of Australia. With 16 solo albums under his belt, he has an enviable back catalogue that makes for incredible live performances with songs like Working Class Man, When Your Love Is Gone and No Second Prize to name a few. Jimmy Barnes has headlined The Red Hot Summer Tour in previous years and is back by popular demand for the 2013 massive Aussie Rock Extravaganza. Following on from his busy year touring back with Cold Chisel, The Red Hot Summer Tour concerts are a chance for rock fans to see Jimmy Barnes at his best and enjoy an extensive catalogue which has made him an icon in the Australian music scene.

Baby Animals Baby Animals burst onto the Australian scene in the 1990s with a solid rock force and a sassy lead singer. Suze Demarchi proved that girls could rock just as hard as guys and the Baby Animals soon kicked some impressive rock butt with hits such as Rush You, Early Warning and One Word. The band scored themselves ARIA awards for best album and toured the globe with the likes of Bryan Adams, Black Crowes and Van Halen. When they split in the mid-1990s they ended a special era of Australian music. The band recently reformed and their inclusion on the Red Hot Summer Tour line-up is a rare chance for music fans to see an original rock at its best.

Ian MossAnother legendary member of Cold Chisel joins the 2013 Red Hot Summer Tour to showcase his own versatile music career. Ian Moss is without doubt one of the country’s most prolific guitarists. His own solo career has seen him release hits such as Telephone Booth and Tucker’s Daughter, as well as traverse the blues rock genre with releases that have seen him become a festival favourite. Ian’s most recent album Soul on West 53rd was a perfect representation of Ian’s skill as a guitarist and vocalist. An unassuming performer, music fans who haven’t seen Ian Moss in concert have missed out on a special experience indeed.

DragonWhen it comes to iconic bands, Dragon has a long history with Aussie music fans. Moving from New Zealand to Australia in the 1970s, the Kiwi-come-Aussie band made an indelible mark and their music captured the hearts of a generation. Songs like April Sun in Cuba, Are You Old Enough and Rain became ingrained into the Australian psyche and Dragon, featuring Todd Hunter and his late brother Marc, were soon adopted by Australia as their own. After the untimely death of Marc Hunter, it was evident that fans were still desperate for more Dragon music. Established solo artist Mark Williams, who music lovers will remember from his hit No Mercy, joined the band as frontman and the new line-up has been touring the country ever since, garnering themselves a whole new generation of fans.

Chocolte StarfishFor music lovers looking for a special bit of concert showmanship, then they’re in for a real treat as Chocolate Starfish take to the stage. Fronted by the enigmatic Adam Thompson, the band is known for their high energy live performances. With songs like Four Letter Word, Mountain and You’re So Vain, Chocolate Starfish powered onto the Australian music scene in the 1990s and quickly secured themselves a space as an influential force. They produced two Top 10 albums and six Top 50 singles. While the band took a hiatus after their second album, they never officially broke up and essentially just took a break from touring every week. Returning to stage on the Red Hot Summer tour in 2013, this is a great opportunity for music fans to see one of the country’s most energetic bands in true festival style.
