FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE
The Red Hot Summer Tour presents another massive line-up of rock royalty with its highly anticipated 2014 tour. Featuring the legendary Suzi Quatro, The Black Sorrows, Shannon Noll and Russell Morris, the annual Red Hot Summer Tour gets bigger and better every year. There are few opportunities to see artists of this calibre on the same bill – The Red Hot Summer Tour is a real celebration of the great rock experience. Kicking off in January, the tour heads through regional centres of Australia across the festival months. The Red Hot Summer Tour has become a highlight in the festival calendar, with many patrons travelling from far and wide to catch the show.
The undisputed international Queen of Rock Suzi Quatro headlines the 2014 Red Hot Summer Tour. There are few female performers who have a career as successful and versatile as Suzi Quatro. When it comes to summing up her decades of music, there is no better way than to quote Suzi directly – “I will retire when I go onstage, shake my ass and there is silence”. It’s no surprise then to find out that Suzi has never stopped working in one guise or another, whether it is playing her solo rock show to packed houses, hosting her own show on the BBC Radio 2, performing on the West End or penning hit songs. To date, this enigmatic performer has sold over 55 million records, in fact, for a seven year period in the 1970s she was featured in the British charts for an incredible 101 weeks. Her hits include The Wild One, 48 Crash, Devil Gate Drive, She’s in Love with You and If You Can’t Give Me Love to name a few.
Suzi is no stranger to Australia and has a soft spot for the Land Down Under. She says she can’t wait to join the 2014 Red Hot Summer tour line-up. “I have been touring Australia since 1974 and have actually lost count of how many times I have been there,” she says. “It is my second home and I love it dearly. Nobody in the world rocks has hard as the Aussies, and from me… that’s what they’re gonna get – foot on the gas and go! I’m so looking forward to this special summer tour.”
Another icon of Australian music, Joe Camilleri, will be bringing his legendary band The Black Sorrows to the Red Hot Summer Tour. An incredible songwriter, Joe penned some unforgettable hits with The Black Sorrows, from tracks like Harley & Rose, Dear Children, The Chosen Ones, Never Let Me Go and Chained to the Wheel to Hold On To Me and New Craze, any live show is guaranteed to get audeinces on their feet dancing. After the success of his first band Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons, Joe pulled together a group of musicians and launced The Black Sorrows. Since then, the band have sold more than a million albums world-wide, toured Europe (to sell-out shows) and won an ARIA for Best Band. Over the past decades, the line-up of The Black Sorrows has been ‘elastic’ and has been home to about 40 musicians, all who have hung their hats on Joe’s beloved songs. Joe Camilleri also has an established solo career.
With ten consecutive Top 10 singles in the charts across his eight year career, it’s fair to say that Shannon Noll has earned his place in the Aussie rock industry. The country boy first came to prominence thanks to his stand-out performances on the first series of television talent show Australian Idol. His debut single, a cover of the Moving Pictures’ track What About Me, made him a household name and also charted overseas. He has been nominated for several ARIA awards and has won the Best Male Artist accolade at the MTV awards three years in succession. Stretching his wings, Shannon also performed in the stage production of Jeff Wayne’s musical The War of the Worlds earning him a whole new fan base.
Bringing both new and old music to his performance at the Red Hot Summer Tour, Russell Morris will have audiences on their feet. More than 40 years after his breakthrough hit – the Molly Meldrum-produced psychedelic masterpiece, The Real Thing – Russell Morris has successfully reinvented himself as a superb bluesman. His latest album, Sharkmouth, comprises of roots-derived songs built on the stories of Australian historical figures. Demonstrating an understanding of Australia’s past every bit as acute as his feel for a great riff, Russell’s album shot to the top of the Aussie Blues charts as soon as it was released in October 2012. Already a major pop star by the time The Real Thing was released, Russell went on to become one of the country's most recognised singer-songwriters. He penned such iconic hits as Wings of an Eagle, Sweet Sweet Love, The Girl That I Love and many more.
The 2014 Red Hot Summer Tour tickets go on sale on Wednesday 18th September at 9am. This tour will sell-out, don’t miss your chance to see this incredible line-up of rock music legends all in the one huge show.
