FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE
One of Australia’s most respected alt-country musicians Bill Chambers will team up with Texas songstress Robyn Ludwick for A Night of Story and Song at the Vertigo Cocktail Bar and Lounge at The Reef Hotel Casino this August. After touring together in both Texas and Australia, the pair decided to combine their musical prowess to write, produce and record together earlier this year, releasing their first single Mr. Saturday Night.
Bill - the father of country music superstar Kasey Chambers and former member of the family outfit the Dead Ringer Band – is one of those growling singers inspired by the legendary works of Bob Dylan and John Prine. Robyn has been described as “the queen of modern Texas country soul” and together their passion for roots music oozes out. Throw in some delicate guitar picking and a love for story-telling and you get a divine collaboration of Australia meets Texas.
There's much more to Bill Chambers than just being Kasey's dad. The patriarch of the Chambers clan is considered to be one of Australia's premier alt-country guitarist. He can be a master of delicate picking on Dobro or Lap Steel and a demon on Slide. Along with producing albums for the likes of Catherine Britt, Audrey Auld, Bec Willis (co-produced with Kasey) and the Dead Ringer Band, Bill has still found time to write most of the songs on his albums - the ARIA nominated Sleeping With The Blues, Frozen Ground and his most recent, Drifting South.
Robyn is the younger sister of revered Texas country music siblings Bruce and Charlie Robison. She is critically acclaimed for her live performances across the USA and Europe and has released two magnificent albums Too Much Desire and For So Long.
Bill and Robyn will be joined at Vertigoon Wednesday 6th August by Far North Queensland folk three-piece The Hillbilly Goats, renowned for their energetic live performances and old school Appalachian folk charm. They perform in a unique, modern and quirky way using their own arrangements of traditional songs from 1710 through to the 1940’s with an energetic edge. The band features banjo, bones, mandolin, double bass, guitars, fiddle, harmonica, tin whistle, tap dancing, four-part harmonies and also throws in some comedic brilliance.
A Night Of Story and Song with Bill Chambers and Robyn Ludwick (supported by The Hillbilly Goats) starts from 8.30pm on Wednesday 6th August at Vertigo Cocktail Bar and Lounge in The Reef Hotel Casino.
