FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE
The Wolfe Brothers are returning home for their 2014 special Christmas show. Each year the rockin’ country band play a Christmas Bash to hometown fans and this year’s event is at one of their favourite venues, The Longley International, on Sunday 14th December.
The Longley gig is going to be a special one for the boys, as it is the first chance they’ve had to play tracks from their new album Nothin’ But Trouble to the home crowd. Nick Wolfe says they are looking forward to the gig, especially as the region is a place where the band derives a lot of their inspiration from. “It’s been a while between drinks… well, not literally,” he says. “We all go in there quite a bit for a beer, but gigging-wise, I think it’s been long enough for the local crowd to be really revved up and in the right festive spirit to close out the year with a bang.”
The Wolfe Brothers experienced an incredible year in 2014. The release of their second long-player Nothin’ But Trouble has seen their music searing up the charts and winning them the hearts of a whole new legion of fans. The album burst onto the ARIA Country Chart at #2 and entered the ARIA mainstream chart at #16. The first single from the new release – That Kinda Night – smashed into #1 position on both country radio and the CMC video charts. It’s no surprise that their latest album was so warmly received by Australian audiences, after all, their debut It’s On rocketed through the charts, firmly cementing the band as one to watch.
The band are the first to point out that they couldn’t have achieved so much if not for the backing of the Australian public. “This past year has been a dream,” says Nick. “From recording and releasing the new album to the countless shows right across the country, we’ve been blessed with the support of our very loyal and dedicated fans. To see our new music being embraced the way it has is astounding, and it only makes us want to work harder and be better at what we do.”
While The Wolfe Brothers have spent much of 2014 on the road, their hearts are always in Tasmania. “We’ve been lucky enough to travel to every state in Australia to play our music,” says Nick. “But I can honestly say that Longley is where it’s at. There’s really no place like it. It’s a really great mix of ages and demographics all out with one thing in mind – to have a good time. To be playing back where it all began, around Christmas time is very special. We can’t wait!”
In fact, when it came to picking a place to celebrate Christmas, there was really no other decision to make for the boys. “Longley holds a special place in our hearts as one of the local venues that gave us a go in the early days and allowed us to learn our craft,” says Nick. “To come back and play now with two studio albums, a CMC award, various Golden Guitar nominations and a few hit singles under the belt is a great feeling. We’re proud of being from Tassie and damn proud to be from Longley, it means the world to us.”
Already 2015 is looking like a massive year for Tasmania’s favourite sons. With two nominations at the 2015 Golden Guitar awards; Group or Duo of the Year and Single of the Year, and tour dates kicking off at the start in January, the band will be looking forward to a rockin’ year. Don’t miss your chance to celebrate Christmas Wolfe Brothers style.
