FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE
The second monthly Comedy Trivia at The Reef Hotel Casino brings another Australian comedian to the North for two special events in July. Headlining the July 16 event is Victorian funny-woman Janet A. McLeod who has a long history of hosting hilarious trivia events. She is the host of ‘Melbourne’s most popular and longest running live comedy trivia night’ and a quiz internationale. Trivia buffs are certainly in for a treat at this month’s event, which will also assist in raising much needed funds for the Ravenshoe Appeal.
Janet A. McLeod is a formiddable force on the Melbourne comedy scene and has been performing at venues around the city for the past 20 years. She has incredible two-fold experience, working both on the stage and behind the scenes, and an infallible understanding and passion for the local comedy scene. When she is not running a popular St. Kilda comedy night, Janet is a familiar voice on ABC Local Radio’s Overnights and revered Melbourne radio Triple R. She has also appeared as a guest correspondent on Triple J and Radio 5 London.
Originally from the historic town of Ballarat, Janet earned her stripes performing with Ballarat Theatresports when she was just 19. Needless to say, she hasn’t really stopped since. She relocated to Melbourne and fell in love with the improvisation scene, rapidly finding her feet alongside revered comedians such as Lano and Woodley, Julia Zemiro and Peter Rowsthorn to name a few. As her bio says, it was a ‘mere sideways step to the comedy scene’ and it is where Janet has been ever since, performing, producing and broadcasting. Over the years she has worked with the likes of Adam Hills, Wil Anderson, Rove McManus, Judith Lucy and Denise Scott to name a few.
Her credits also include festival director of the Harp Village Comedy Festival, producer of the Great BIG Comedy Night, producer and resident host of Planet Comedy (Collingwood) and producer and techno wiz at the Comedy at Vibe on Smith Smith, a cutting edge multimedia weekly stand-up night. Her trivia nuance, off-the-cuff humour and love of pop-culture makes anytime in the company of Janet highly entertainment, side-splittingly funny and unforgettable.
