FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE
The line-up at the 2015 Docklands Blues Music Festival is enviable to say the least. Headlined by is international blues extraordinaire Chris Cain, the Goin’ Down To New Orleans themed festival brings 12-hours of non-stop music featuring 23 bands across four stages. Joining Chris is a host of Australia’s most revered blues talents, as well as some incredible local Melbourne performers, ensuring there is something for all music lovers.
Chris Cain is a man who clearly needs no introduction. Making his official debut at the festival, Cain will no doubt bring a truly unforgettable performance. Exposed to B.B King at the age of three, Cain’s blues and jazz education was an inevitable and important aspect of his childhood and youth. His passion and intensity for blues and soul are a blend of his mother’s Greek ancestry and his father’s soulful black heritage. His mature style is a result of a lifetime of in-depth blues and jazz study, the fusion of both genres distinguishing Cain from many of his contemporaries.
Noted for sounding like the perfect balance of B.B King and Albert King, Cain’s bluesy jazz-tinged San Francisco style picks up on his varied musical tastes and influences. The respected bluesman’s debut recording – Late Night City Blues (1987) – received several W.C Handy Blues Award nominations, including Guitarist of the Year, immediately affirming his formidable presence in the US blues music scene. Cain has also been known to dabble in the styles of Jazz, Funk and Gospel and he plays a wide assortment of instruments from guitar to tenor sax — a wide musical palette that reinforces his unique standing in today’s blues paradigm.
The line-up for the Docklands Blues Music Festival also features the likes of The Melbourne Jukes, Room 15, Jesse Valach & Blues Mountain, Safari Motel, Paulie Bignell & The Thornbury Two and Sweet Felicia & The Honeytones (featuring Eddy Boyle) performing on the Melbourne Star stage. The Harbour Town Mall stage includes performances Dog Gone South, Wilson & White, Miss Whiskey and Nick Charles. An equally impressive line-up takes to the stage at the Harbour Town Hotel with Peninsula Youth in Blues, MBAS Youth in Blues, Forth Avenue Band (featuring Women In Blues), Southbound Tram and Black Pearl on the bill.
