The enigmatic Renée Geyer returns to the Wonderland Spiegeltent this October for one special night. After a sell-out show for Valentine’s Day, the revered songstress is back by popular demand with an unforgettable evening of music and tickets are already selling fast.
Renée’s musical journey is part of Australian music folklore. With a career having spanned more than four decades, this vivacious singer needs no introduction to audiences. She has an unmistakable voice and an enviable stage presence, which guarantees audiences a special night indeed.
A beloved performer on the Melbourne scene, she was inducted into The Age Music Victoria Hall of Fame (2013) for her contribution to the Aussie music industry. In the same year she also released a new long player, aptly titled Swing, an album that is Renée’s big band interpretations of classic hits. Recorded with an 18-piece band, tracks such as I’ve Got Rhythm, Somewhere, It’s A Man’s Man’s World and Fly Me To The Moon have been given a new life.
There are few musicians who have a back catalogue as extensive as Renée Geyer. Sporting 25 albums, she is easily one of Australia’s most well respected and accomplished musicians. She was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2005 and is still earning charting success, her latest release Swing debuted on the national ARIA charts at #22.
It was only in 2010 that this incredible songstress released her The Ultimate Collection, an album that covered four decades of soul. Befitting for a singer with such an incredible voice, Renée has long earned the reputation for being able to sing anything. She is considered a bona fide music icon and is described as a consummate performer with a proud body of work that still transfixes a room with the power of her song’.
Renée Geyer first made an impact on the music industry in her teenage years as a precious jazz, blues and soul singer. She became Countdown royalty and a household name during her 20s, producing a string of pop, soul and reggae hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. She has lived the musical dream, with an impressive list of successes not only in Australia, but also overseas.
She’s spent time in LA and has worked in the studio with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sting, Joe Cocker and Chaka Kahn. In Australia, she’s collaborated with Paul Kelly.
