FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – MEDIA RELEASE

Lee KernaghanAfter a stellar 25 years of sold-out tours and platinum selling albums, Lee Kernaghan’s career just keeps going from strength to strength. In what can only be described as a massive week for the country music star, he was inducted into the CMC Hall Of Fame at the CMC Awards held on the Gold Coast the day before the release of his new 25th Anniversary Album at the end of March. He followed this up a few days later by delivering a scorching live show at the CMC Rocks QLD festival to a sold-out crowd of 20,000 country music fans.

The response to Kernaghan’s high energy performance was overwhelming as he led the crowd on a musical journey through his 25-year career of the hits and songs that define modern Australian country music. Lee took to the stage with The Wolfe Brothers, who are his touring band on the coming 25th Anniversary Tour – the musical chemistry between the singer and this band took the excitement and energy that was pouring out from the huge crowd to another level as the local hero set the bar for visiting superstar group the Dixie Chicks, who followed Kernaghan on to the CMC main stage.

Lee was also joined on stage by his mate and fellow CMC Hall Of Fame recipient James Blundell to duet on a new song they recorded together for the 25th Anniversary Album. The mutual respect between these two artists, the only two performers to be inducted into the CMC Hall Of Fame to date, was obvious as they performed the song Back In 92 from Lee’s new album. The song recalls the time when James hired Lee to be the piano player in his touring band and, soon after Boys From The Bush was released, he also fired Lee from his band. Since then the two have become the best of mates and James has been involved in writing songs with Lee on almost every album he has recorded. James will be joining Lee this year for selected dates on his upcoming tour.

The national tour dates begin in April and run all the way through to November 2017. The tour will visit every state and territory in Australia. Lee will be joined by a stellar line-up of special guests throughout the tour including the legendary James Blundell, multi Golden Guitar award winner Tania Kernaghan, 2016 Golden Guitar winner for Best New Artist Christie Lamb and CMC Award winning group, The Wolfe Brothers (who will join Lee for the entire tour). Check out www.leekernaghan.com for all details of dates and which special guests are performing at each show.
Lee Kernaghan released his new 25th Anniversary Album on March 24, the same weekend he performed at CMC Rocks QLD.  After the first week of sales, it has come in at #2 on the ARIA Chart behind English mega-star Ed Sheeran, and #1 on the ARIA country chart. After 25 years of touring and releasing albums, Lee Kernaghan still resonates loudly and proudly with his Australian fans.

Tickets for all the Lee Kernaghan Boys From The Bush tour dates are selling fast. The coming tour is the biggest Lee has ever undertaken and every show is set to be an unforgettable concert experience – book your tickets early and join the celebration of the epic career of one of this country’s all-time greats.

ABOUT LEE KERNAGHAN

Lee Kernaghan reinvigorated Australian Country Music in the 1990’s, synthesising traditional country themes with his own brand of rural rock and images of an evolving regional culture. Songs like The Outback Club, Boys from The Bush, Hat Town, She’s My Ute and Australian Boy are now modern day anthems for a generation of Australians living and working on the land.

In 2015 Lee released the epic work Spirit of The Anzacs, based on a collection of letters and diary records from Australian servicemen and women, some dating back to the landings at Gallipoli. On its release the album struck a chord with the Australian people holding the #1 position on the Australian ARIA Album Chart for four consecutive weeks. It was the highest selling album by an Australian artist (all genres) for 2015. All proceeds from The Spirit of The Anzacs song and music video featuring music greats Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Shepherd, Shannon Noll, Jon Stevens and Megan Washington are donated in perpetuity to veteran support groups – Legacy Australia and Soldier On.

Lee has sold over two million albums in Australia with releases including Outback Club, Three Chain Road, 1959, Hat Town, Rules Of The Road, Electric Rodeo, New Bush, Ultimate Hits, Spirit Of The Bush, Planet Country, Beautiful Noise and Spirit Of The Anzacs all achieving platinum or multi-platinum status. Lee is a four-time ARIA award-winning artist and in 2015 he was presented with the Australian Record Industry Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Lee has achieved a staggering 34 #1 chart hit songs over his career and has been awarded 36 Golden Guitars. He has been named Hit Maker of the Decade, twice, in 2001 and 2011. This accolade is in recognition of Lee having more chart hits in Australia than any other country music artist in the world.

Kernaghan is long-time and passionate supporter of rural and regional Australia. His Pass the Hat Around Australia Tours, Spirit of The Bush and Farmhand concerts have raised millions of dollars for drought, flood and bushfire relief, hospitals, schools, ambulance and volunteer organisations nation-wide. In 2004 Kernaghan was the recipient of an Order of Australia Medal and was named 2008 Australian of the Year.

In March 2017 Lee was inducted into the CMC Hall Of Fame, becoming the second artist to be inducted. The first was his mate James Blundell. Fittingly they inducted each other into this very small exclusive club of Australian Country Music legends.
