Legendary Aussie rock band The Angels have been forced to rescheduled this weekend’s shows in Merimbula and Goulburn – on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd April respectively – due to the unexpected hopsitalisation of lead guitarist Rick Brewster.

Rhythm guitarist John Brewster says Rick was unexpectedly admitted to hospital this week with an infection and is receiving IV antibiotics. “Rick is receiving the best treatment and is hopeful to be released from hospital in the next few days,” he says. “He is obviously really upset about having to cancel this weekend’s shows, but the most important thing now is that he rests and gets the treatment he needs to recouperate. All the band are thinking of Rick and wishing him a speedy recovery.”

The New South Wales tour dates, the second last weekend in the run which commenced at the start of March, will be rescheduled in the coming weeks.

John says both shows are in the process of being rescheduled currently. “We have immediately started working on finding alternative dates for the Merimbula and Goulburn shows,” he says. “We were really looking forward to the 4×4 dates this weekend and don’t want those music fans who had bought tickets to miss out. We thank everyone for their understanding for the postponement and look forward to finalising new show dates as soon as possible.”
The remaining show dates for the final weekend of the tour – South Morang and Mulgrave on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th April – are still slated to go ahead at this time. Further updates on these dates will be announced shortly.

John says the band are looking forward to Victorian shows at the end of April. “At this stage, Rick is anticipating that he will be out of hospital and on stage in Victoria next week,” he says. “We have our fingers crossed and are all working towards next week assuming that the shows are going ahead. We look forward to seeing audeinces in South Morang and Mulgrave with Rick fighting fit!”

The Angels’ 4×4 Across Australia tour has seen the band digging through their back catalogue to pick some of their biggest hits for the special run of shows. They’ve hand-picked four of their most iconic records, and playing, back-to-back, four hits from each record. Add to that an encore that featured a swag of more classic tracks, and the 4×4 shows have been playing to packed houses.

More details on the rescheduled show dates for Merimbula and Goulburn will be announced shortly. Ticketholders are encouraged to hold on to their tickets which will be valid for the new dates. Any queries regarding reissue of tickets can be directed the point of purchase. Any changes to the South Morang and Mulgrave dates for next weekend will be announced in the coming days.
