The Reef Hotel Casino presents soulstress Lisa Hunt for two massive weeks

Live at the Casino – BAR36 – Live Lounge

Residency – 4-7 May & 11-14 May 2017

In a first for The Reef Hotel Casino, the soulful diva Lisa Hunt is undertaking a two-week residency at BAR36 in May. For all those music lovers who have missed the Lisa Hunt experience during her previous visits to Cairns, or who just couldn’t get enough of this impressive songstress, now there is no excuse not to get your party shoes on for a night or three!

Lisa Hunt is something of an honourary local to the Far North, having made her annual pilgrimage for one to three nights worth of shows at The Reef Hotel Casino for almost a decade. Never before has she undertaken a permanent residency and her fortnight worth of shows at BAR36 are guaranteed to not only pack out the house, but also be unforgettable.

Kicking off the weekend early, Lisa will get the party started each week from Thursday, ramping it up with disco, soul and Motown on Friday and Saturday night. Sundays kick it old skool, starting early at 5pm and getting into a bit of gospel – as every good Sunday should – the perfect end to the week and an ideal Sunday session.  Lisa’s Sunday show, will pay homage to her gospel roots, the music that inspired her and those who influenced the start of her career. Sunday will be the day to soothe the soul with some amazing music and cleanse the palette at the new home of live music in The Reef Hotel Casino, BAR36.

With a repetoire that includes hits from the likes of Aretha Franklin, The Jacksons, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, as well as a swag of Motwon greats, its not suprising that her shows are always full houses. Lisa’s vibrancy as an artist has seen her trek the globe and perform at some of the most coveted venues and festivals in Australia. Starting the early days of her career in the great African American gospel church tradition in New York, she has gone on to share the stage with some of the world’s greats.

She has an enviable list of admirers, from Eric Clapton, Dionne Warwick, Brian May, Randy Crawford, to Andrea Bocelli – all have been impressed with Lisa’s versatility and immense vocal ability. She’s also performed and toured with the likes of Ronan Keating, Macy Gray, Mousse T, Delores O’Riordan (Cranberries) and Tina Arena.

In Australia, she’s shared the studio with Jimmy Barnes, Diesel, Darren Percival, Jon Stevens and Midnight Oil. Her other international recording credits include sessions with famed producers Jellybean Benitez (Madonna), Toni C (Whitney), Frank Farion (LaBouche) and The Berman Brothers (Amber, Ultra Nate) to name a few. Her vocals can also be heard on several top 10 dance tracks around Europe including being ‘the voice’ of Lovestation (UK), Club X (Germany) and D1 (USA).

Internationally, Lisa has songs on numerous compilation albums. Her debut release, A Little Piece of Magic, was released through record giant Universal/Polydor. She was also on the chart topping Lovestation’s Soulstation CD. Embracing both sides of the spectrum, Lisa also independently released Can You Feel It on an indie label. She has also been credited for her work with American soundtrack compositions for shows such as HBO’s Subway Stories and Goodnight Moon, to name a few. She’s also appeared as an actress on several off-Broadway musicals such as Dreamgirls and Ballad for Bimshire. In Australia, she’s also put together her own production of The Roots Of My Soul.

Lisa Hunt is the Queen of soul, disco, Motown and gospel and her residency will be one not to miss.

Lisa Hunt’s BAR36 residency runs from 4-7 & 11-14 May 2017. Entertainment kicks off at 9pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, with 5pm start on Sundays. *** Live at the Casino shows in BAR36 are non-ticketed shows. For more information, please visit
