Celebrating a massive first year of entertainment at BAR36. Superheroes & Villains New Year’s Eve

The Reef Hotel Casino is ringing the New Year in with a super hero style – and a bit of a villain! The Super Heroes & Villains New Year’s Eve will be a huge party, the kind one might come to expect from BAR36 and The Reef Hotel Casino after what has been an incredible 2017 for the live music venue.

Dubbed as ‘the party to end all parties’, there are a swag of prizes up for grabs on the night, including a sweet $10K that will be drawn after the clock ticks into 2018. There is also a ‘Supersonic Indian Motorcycle’ to be won with JD.

As for the entertainment, BAR36 and The Reef Hotel Casino are going big! The Big Bad Noise will be live in the Casino til late, or early, depending on how you look at it. The ever-popular party animals The Tall Poppies will keep the tunes pumping in BAR36 all night – and early morning! There are also a host of DJs, street characters, face painters and more, plus the Masters of the Universe Taipans After Party.

Keeping to a tradition that has been part of The Reef Hotel Casino for many years, the mammoth balloon drop will still be part of the festivities – and is already in preparation for the strike of midnight! There is no doubt that New Year’s Eve at The Reef Hotel Casino and BAR36 is going to be one hell of a party – whether you are a super hero, a villain, or somewhere in between, there is something happening to keep your dancing shoes on (and your celebrations marching into the New Year)!

It is no surprise that The Reef Hotel Casino and BAR36 are throwing such a monumental shindig. After all, 2017 was a massive year – kicking off the launch of BAR36 and seeing an incredible year of live entertainment on the new live music stage. From Sunday sessions, to residencies, one night only performances and packed houses, the year was a great success for the music scene in Far North Queensland. The Reef Hotel Casino Entertainment Promotions Manager Bruce Stewart said it was an incredible launch for the BAR36 concept.

“What a successful year for BAR36 with the six-nights of entertainment a major feature,” he said. “We are extremely happy and impressed with the local talent who performed on our stage – Kaweyova, Dave Cooke and Danny Bani to name just a few, plus the Cairns artists that reside south and come back to grace our stage Davy Simony, Chris Ah Gee and Dan Bolton. Also, what a pleasure to present the cream of Aussie artists such as The Bamboos, Nathaniel, Andy De Silva, Russell Morris, Mahalia Barnes and John Swan. Plus presenting an array of talent and styles from Emma Pask Jazz to Hurricane Falls county rock, to Claymore Celtic rock and The Koi Boys dance cabaret, with the highlight of presenting the then number one band in the country on the night their album went Number #1, Busby Marou. Yet another success was the presentation of the Sunday Bar Sessions with Lisa Hunt’s gospel show and the almost religious experience of The Bee Gees and Prince tributes. As far as production, atmosphere, food and beverage, I am pretty sure we have one of the best boutique live stages in the country. I’m very proud of the team and the product we have created. Already, 2018 is looking huge with the six nights continuing and over 12 touring artists already booked in.”

Entertainment at BAR36 continues in January with internationally renowned looping specialist Kenta Hayashi direct from Japan on January 19 & 21.
