One night only – Thursday 12th July 2018

The sweetheart of Australian country music, Catherine Britt, is heading North for one night only and audiences are in for a real treat. Showcasing songs from her new album – her seventh – Catherine Britt & The Cold, Cold Hearts, a deeply personal autobiographical release. The album, which embraces an organic country feel, is described as ‘conjuring up vibrant Australian imagery’ traversing everything the country has to offer, from bush to coalmines, the coast to the desert. Add into that songs that explore personal challenge and the ‘power of love and family’ and it is so surprise that the album is already garnering Catherine acclaim.

Catherine Britt has been one of the mainstays of Australian country music since the release of her debut album Dusty Smiles and Heartbreak Cures. She made the decision to move to Nashville at the tender age of 17 to pursue music, and it paid off with a recording contract. Since then she has received five Golden Guitar awards, the CMA Global Artist of the Year award (2010) and six ARIA nominations for Best Country Album.

She has also toured with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Sir Elton John, Don McLean, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Kenny Chesney, Steve Earle and Chris Isaak to name a few. Catherine’s music ranges from pop country to bush ballads, acoustic folk, country rock and a blend of Americana, earning her fans across multiple genres.

The last three years have provided ample fodder for songwriting inspiration, with her marriage to husband James and the birth of their first child. During this time, Catherine also fought a battle with breast cancer – inspiring many along the way. Catherine Britt & The Cold, Cold Hearts was recorded in her home studio – the ‘Beverley Hillbilly Studio’ – under the watchful eye of engineer Jeff McCormack. Recording the self-produced album with ‘The Cold, Cold Hearts’, Michael Muchow and Andy Toombs, was perfect for the vibe Catherine was trying to create, and it extends to the live show.

Catherine’s show at The Reef Hotel Casino is part of her album tour. The evening promises to be one for all music fans, not just country music lovers. The show opens with special guest, local Queensland artist The Mackay-based singer-songwriter has been steadily earning a name for herself since she embarked on the talent quest circuit at the age of 14. An attendee at the junior and senior Academy of Country Music in Tamworth, she has honed her songwriting skills to pen her debut EP. The release, which is produced by Catherine Britt, features the recent single Gypsy Girl.
