December 2018 marks 30 years since the world lost one of the true greats of music, Roy Orbison. An icon, his artistry and his incredible voice still live on today in the countless hit songs that he left behind. To pay homage to Roy and the musical legacy he left behind, one of his biggest fans Damien Leith is performing two very special shows – Roy Orbison Remembered – 30 Years On – Anniversary Concert.

It is no secret that singer-songwriter Damien Leith is a huge Roy Orbison fan. His Roy – A Tribute To Roy Orbison Album, Damien’s fourth studio offering, which was produced by Roy’s late wife Barbara Orbison, went platinum when it was released in 2011. It sat in the Australian Top 20 charts for a massive 22-weeks, confirming what Damien already knew – Australian music fans were huge lovers of Roy Orbison as well.

As the 30th anniversary of Roy’s passing draws closer, Damien believes that there is still so much future generations can learn from Roy Orbison. “I think Roy’s music teaches future artists that they can allow themselves to be emotional and exposed in their music,” he says. “Roy had the perfect blend of mainstream hits with absolute originality – his style crossed many different musical tastes from those who simply enjoyed a hit song to those who wanted something new and fresh. It was his uniqueness as both a singer and songwriter that has always resonated with me. His style was so original, raw and emotive and his lyrics never shied away from vulnerability. I love to sing songs that require a lot of emotion.”

Roy Orbison Remembered – 30 Years On – Anniversary Concert will certainly be an opportunity for Damien to sing those emotive songs. The setlist includes tracks such as In Dreams, Crying, Running Scared, Oh Pretty Woman, I Drove All Night and Blue Angel to name a few. The show is jam-packed with as many songs as are possible to pack into the show. Damien is looking forward to sharing the great man’s music with audiences.

“As always, my Roy Orbison show is a celebration of his music delivered in my own unique style,” he says. “I don’t try to emulate him. I’m just a huge fan of his songs and love any opportunity to sing them. I’ll be playing songs from my album Roy – A Tribute To Roy Orbison, along with many songs that didn’t feature on that album.”

Every time Damien has toured one of his shows paying homage to Roy Orbison, he received rave reviews the beautiful interpretations of Roy’s songs. These two special shows will be a tribute to one of Damien’s heroes in the only way he knows best – through music. They will be a night to remember.
