Rescheduled Perth show – New show date Saturday 26th October 2019
Tex Perkins Perth show, initially planned for this past Sunday (15th September) evening, has now been rescheduled for Saturday 26th October 2019. The 10th Anniversary show of The Man In Black – The Songs & Story of Johnny Cash was cancelled due to flight cancellations on Sunday afternoon.
The flight booked for Tex and his band coming out of Adelaide was cancelled. Another flight was immediately booked, however this was also cancelled. In a desperate attempt to make it to Perth, they chartered a private plane but this option was also thwarted with timing as head winds of 100km per hour meant that arrival would be late evening. After exhausting all avenues to ensure the show proceeded, promoters made the call to reschedule the concert.
“Tex, Rachael, the Band and Crew are extremely disappointed we weren’t able to make the planned performance,” says promoter Duane McDonald. “We made every attempt to get on a plane that would get us in for show time. We are not going to miss taking the 10th anniversary tour to Perth though, and are pleased to be able to have rescheduled to the show to Saturday October 26.”
The Man In Black Show has been lauded by critics and fans alike, it’s no surprise it was awarded the accolade for Best Contemporary Australian Concert and has been selling out around the country over the past decade. It’s no surprise the show is embraced so much by music-loving audiences – there are few artists within Australia who can translate the work of ‘The Man in Black’ and bring it to modern day like Tex Perkins. His reverence for Johnny Cash’s career is evident in the way he approaches every song.
“I love this show,” says Tex. “I’ve loved being in it for the last 10 years and having the opportunity of putting on the boots of a legend, exploring the world of Johnny Cash. Even though it’s all about Johnny Cash, I’ve put a lot of myself into this show, intentionally and unintentionally. Despite us winning a Helpmann in the first 12-months of life, the show I truly believe, 10 years on is even better!”
