As Gippsland Country Music Festival moves to its new home at Lardner Park in 2023, it presents an exciting opportunity for music fans to buy passes to camp onsite for the weekend and truly soak up the country experience. The prospect of camping has already proved an attractive drawcard for festivalgoers and with camping spaces limited, they are selling fast. Tickets for the one-day Gippsland Country Music Festival are also in demand, with second release tickets now on sale.

Next year, Gippsland Country Music Festival will celebrate its third event with a massive line-up, headlined by Lee Kernaghan – who launched the inaugural event in 2021 – and Troy Cassar-Daley. With Adam Brand, Beccy Cole, Sara Storer, Kaylee Bell, Josh Setterfield, Jade Gibson and Gareth Leach, there is something for all lovers of country music. In addition, there is also a woodchopping competition, freestyle motocross and line dancing, to carnival rides and market stalls, plus the host of delicious food and drink vendors showcasing the local Gippsland region.

For organiser Aidan McLaren, providing camping as an option for ticket holders has been on the cards since the inaugural event. It has been something that the team have been working on for the past two years and they are delighted to offer it for the first time in 2023, in the hope that it will attract even more people to the beautiful Gippsland region.

“We know that fans travel hundreds of kilometres to attend the festival, and in addition to all of the incredible local accommodation around, it’s exciting to allow people to camp at Lardner Park for the first time,” he says. “Camping onsite will allow punters to be immersed in the true Gippsland Country experience, and we are excited to be planning some extra special moments that will take place in the campgrounds as well. Whether you’re a country music lover or are just interested in taking part in one of the Gippsland region’s biggest music and cultural events, come on down with a group of friends and enjoy this fun festival across the whole weekend. We’ve always wanted to give punters the option to expand their Gippsland Country experience into a full weekend from Friday all the way through to Sunday, making it an even bigger, and more unique experience, than a traditional one-day music festival.”

Camping is available from Friday afternoon through until Sunday morning. All campers must have purchased a festival ticket in order to camp onsite, and all camping must be pre-booked. There are four campsite options: small, medium, large and pre-pitched. Food and beverage vendors will also be trading within the campsite on the Friday and Saturday nights.

Aidan says camping at the festival will be special experience. “Nothing beats going camping at a music festival – setting up your tent, swag or campervan with your mates, sleeping under the stars and getting to know fellow country music fans,” says Aidan. “Camping is such a special part of the country experience and we know that alongside the incredible music and festival, it might very well become a lot of people’s favourite part of Gippsland Country. One of the best things about it is being out in the great outdoors with good mates and good company, while celebrating some of the best Australian country music around! It’s been so special to see the incredible Gippsland Country community grow over the past two years, and to give all of the fans an opportunity to get together, alongside celebrating the music, is something that we are so proud to be able to offer. Creating the best community experience for patrons is what we’ve always strived to build, and we know that camping is a really important and exciting part of this.”

After years of working to make camping an option for music fans, Aidan can’t wait to see everyone enjoying themselves across the weekend in April. “Personally, I’ll be so excited to see the first few tents, swags and caravans setting up in anticipation for the weekend ahead,” says Aidan. “Then to hear all the incredible stories of music, friendship and good times that come after the festival as well. I’m sure that lots of amazing memories will be created in April. Overall, to have our country music community be able to gather together under the stars is a really special thing and I can’t wait to see it all happen. Bring on Gippsland Country 2023!”
