The Wolfe Brothers kick off a massive few months ahead with a huge Tamworth Country Music Festival

The month of April kicks off what will be a massive few months ahead for The Wolfe Brothers. The Tasmanian duo will be attending the 50th anniversary Tamworth Country Music Festival next week, where they will not only be performing their headline show at the legendary Longyard Hotel on Thursday (April 21), but they will also be performing at the Australian Country Music Awards on Wednesday night. This year the boys are nominated for an incredible seven Golden Guitars for Toyota Album of the Year, Contemporary Country Album of the Year, Capital News Group or Duo of the Year, Heritage Song of the Year, APRA AMCOS Song of the Year, CMT Video of the Year and Vocal Collaboration of the Year.

Attending the Tamworth Country Music Festival this year is one of highlights on The Wolfe Brothers calendar. “We are excited about this year’s festival,” says Tom Wolfe. “For the first time ever, it will be held in April due to COVID postponing the January event. Our seven nominations is the most we have ever had and it is very pleasing that our last album KIDS ON CASSETTE has connected so well in what was a difficult year for everyone. We have not been able to tour to promote the record like we normally would, but the support from fans and the media has been fantastic.”

The Wolfe Brothers plan to make up for all of the COVID cancellations and postponed shows with the continuation of their Startin’ Something National Tour, which will be travelling through every state this year. After a long hiatus of not touring due to the pandemic, the duo cannot wait to get back out on the road.

“We love playing live and we are booking as many shows and festivals as we can to play all the new songs from KIDS ON CASSETTE to as many people as possible,” says Nick Wolfe. “We recently released What You Make It as the fifth single off the album. So far, all of the previous four singles reached #1 on the National Country Music Chart and we are hoping this new one also does well.”

What You Make It is what Nick and Tom Wolfe see as the classic Wolfe Brothers song and was penned with long-time mate Phil Barton at Nick’s kitchen table one day while he was visiting from Nashville. It is a catchy track and has already been embraced by fans.

A Ford is just Ford and there’s a million others like it, but add up all the miles and there’s some history behind it, we’ve sure had our adventures, she’s the one I learnt to drive in, that date night first kiss back seat I learned so much about life in…

The Wolfe Brothers“We’ve written many songs with Phil and usually due to our shared love of big anthems, we usually end up shooting for something in that zone,” says Nick. “It was really nice to write something in a different headspace with Phil this time. In many ways this is my favourite lyric on the record. It talks about how things are just things until you attach a memory to them, and then simple objects or places can come to mean so much more. If you’ve followed our band for a while and know our history, I think you’ll see how honest and ‘us’ this lyric is.”

With the reputation of being one of the hardest working bands in the land, the brothers used the down time that was imposed by the pandemic earlier this year to record a new album, this time with producer Rod McCormack. The album, which will be their sixth studio record, is planned for an early 2023 release.

Right now, The Wolfe Brothers are gearing up for a big Tamworth Country Music Festival before they kick off their Startin’ Something tour again. For the duo, there is a big highlight at the Australian Country Music Awards next week, where they will share the stage with a friend for a very special performance. Amy Sheppard, from internationally successful pop group, Sheppard, will join The Wolfe Brothers for the performance of their duet, Something Good’s Gonna Happen, from their most recent album KIDS ON CASSETTE. Amy recorded the song with The Wolfe Brothers and this will be the first time it has been performed live as a duet.

Don’t miss The Wolfe Brothers live at one of their upcoming shows. Tickets are on sale now. The Wolfe Brothers latest single, What You Make It, is at radio now. The Wolfe Brothers fifth studio album Kids on Cassette is out now internationally through BBR Music / BMG.
