Canadian songwriter Tennyson King is on a progressive tour of Australia and is heading to BAR36 at The Reef Hotel Casino for a special one night only Sunday session this September to showcase his earthy roots, rock and Americana style. King – the musical persona of Toronto-based musician, composer and producer Alfred Chow – is an exciting new project that has seen this esteemed artist earn much acclaim.

The musical odyssey, as Tennyson King is described, featured a ‘lush layered psychedelic and 1970s rock sensibility, all wrapped up in a contemporary modern lustre’. With the release of Tennyson’s debut EP, audiences are treated to a collection of songs which are ‘refreshing in its unashamed spirit of independence, experimentation and lack of conformity’.

Thus far, the EP has been warmly embraced, garnering high rotation on college and community radio and earning the artist award nominations. The momentum built has seen Tennyson perform at festivals such as Canadian Music Week, Taste of Danforth, China Town Festival and Winter Folk Festival among others. He headed over to Australia in early 2017 for his first Aussie tour, playing at Yackandandah Folk Festival, MONA and Burke & Wills Festival, and performing alongside local talents such as Paul Woseen, Brad Marr and Paul Dempsey, to name a few.

His return to Australia includes more than 50 tour dates and will wrap-up in December 2017. Tennyson will then head into the studio to record his debut long-player, before touring through Canada, China and Europe.

Before he created his alter ego, Alfred Chow was already a revered artist within his own right. He has spent years collaborating across genres, from jazz, classical, blues, hip hop to reggae and rock. He has shared hallowed stages with the likes of Whitehorse, Sloan, Joel Plaskett, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings and Elliot Brood, to name a few. His ability to adapt to different musical styles is what has made his Tennyson King project such a success.

Tennyson King performs at BAR36 at The Reef Hotel Casino on Sunday 24th September 2017 from 6.30pm for one night only. Music continues til late with Eddie Skiba.
