A weekend of country fun | Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th August 2018

Far North Queensland favourites The Hillbilly Goats are renowned for their entertaining live shows and their bringing their mountain music to BAR36 at The Reef Hotel Casino for two special country-filled nights this August, with special guests Luke O’Shea and Chris Matthews. No strangers to Cairns music fans, The Hillbilly Goats – aka Goat Boy, Goat Girl and Goat Buster – have a unique brand of music that has seen them develop a strong fan-base far and wide.

So far 2018 has already been a stellar year for the Goats, they’ve been touring the launch of their album Old Jack’s Bones, which they kicked off at Tamworth Country Music Festival in January, and that tour has also seen them head over to New Zealand for a month-long stint. The Goats traverses traditional songs with a high-energy ‘quirky edge’ using everything in their arsenal from double bass, to fiddle, banjo to tap-dancing and harmonies, plus everything in-between. Their mountain music encompasses blues, country and bluegrass.

Joining The Hillbilly Goats on the bill at BAR36 for the two nights is multiple Golden Guitar winner Luke O’Shea.  Considered one of the premier lyricists in Australian country music, Luke has been touring the width and breath of the country for more than two decades. The laureate singer-songwriter now boasts nine Golden Guitars under his belt, plus a host of other accolades from throughout his career. His sound is powerful and classic Australian. Luke is the consummate storyteller, sharing stories of people and events through the power of song.

Currently touring alongside Luke O’Shea is Australian guitarist, singer-songwriter Chris Matthews, known for ‘singing up country’. An old-school musician, he is always on the road, performing everywhere under the sun, from pubs, clubs and festivals, garnering a fan-base along the way. His performances are described as highly entertaining and energetic, and he is as comfortable playing in a small front bar as he is on a massive stage. The multi-instrumentalist, who harks from Kununurra in the North West WA, released his fourth album Hell West And Crooked in 2017.

Don’t miss this weekend of country fun with The Hillbilly Goats with special guests Luke O’Shea and Chris Matthews.

The Hillbilly Goats, with special guests Luke O’Shea and Chris Matthews, perform at BAR36, The Reef Hotel Casino on Saturday 4th August from 8pm and Sunday 5th August from 7pm.
