Music fans are in for a treat this month as legendary Australian singer-songwriter Issi Dye hosts Mornings In The Arena at The Reef Hotel Casino for one morning only. With a career spanning more than five decades, there isn’t much that Issi Dye hasn’t done. He will be bringing over 50 years of music experience to the Far North, showcasing his cabaret performance that has earned him the reputation as one of Australia’s best.

Issi Dye launched his career singing in groups Treo Plus One and the Hendrix-inspired Compulsion. He moved to performing solo in 1969 and became a sought-after musician. His reputation saw him perform with the likes of Lonnie Lee, John Farnham, Johnny O’Keefe and The Deltones. He also spent the 70s touring with international icons such as Roy Orbison, The Beachboys, The Everly Brothers, The Supremes, The Platters and Ray Charles, to name a few.

Diversity was a skill Issi Dye honed early on – he could perform any style of music. Subsequently he appeared on many television shows such as Bandstand, Komotion, The Go Show and Happening 70s Show. From the mid-1970s to the late 1990s he worked on his own television program on Channel 9 in Melbourne and Sydney and Channel 10 in Queensland.

Due to his versatility, Issi Dye has put together many themed shows, exploring the music of artists he admired, such as his acclaimed The Al Jolson Story which he has toured internationally.

Issi Dye released his first recording in 1969, and consistently recorded tracks throughout the early-mid 1970s. His I’m Counting On You was released in late 1980s, and this album Still Rockin’ The Issi Dye Rock and Roll Album brought together all his career memories in 1995. Now, Issi Dye tours with his own bands, The Dynamics and Yakity Yak, as well as putting on his highly sought-after solo shows.

Issi Dye performs for one morning only as part of Mornings In The Arena on Friday 22nd June 2018, commencing at 11am.
